For Fashion Week, the Vendôme Luxury Trade Show has invited Emmanuelle Legavre to present her first venture into the realm of design art with her monumental installation “The Key to my Ego”. Playing on relationships with scale, Emmanuelle Legavre has concocted a giant keychain by recontextualizing a vintage 1960s icon, a little British car which was the subject of much discussion.

Stuck in a bath of mirror-polished chrome, this (full-scale) car has been entirely gutted, sealed and chromed, then attached to its key in fluorescent pink steel. Through this crazy project, Emmanuelle Legavre presents a very personal and fresh vision of an object to which she has always been deeply attached, and making an artwork in the Pop Art tradition, between preciousness, vintage symbolism, the magic of shifting meanings and the unexpected.

The dimensions of this 250 kg collection piece are certain to take visitors and art lovers by surprise, one only has to imagine a car nearly 3 m in length and a 2.7 m steel key, almost as long as the chain to which it is attached!

Emmanuelle Legavre has tried her hand with this first piece in her “Crazy World” collection and will unveil other objects in various forms during the year. Intended for the general public and collectors, the piece was chosen by Vendôme Luxury Trade Show, a major Fashion Week player, to promote some of the world's most exclusive creations, thereby providing Emmanuelle Legavre with an international stage for her first foray into the world of design art.

These are the components of Emmanuelle Legavre's distinctive style. As both a designer and interior decorator, she designs objects that reflect her energy and passion for the exceptional.

She is the artistic director at U Home which offers prestige apartments that she decorates with a Parisian touch, elegant and uncluttered. In 2011 she came to prominence by refurbishing chests of drawers with pop motifs such as the black and white hound's tooth, and continued her collection of nomadic furniture by transforming suitcases to make elegant dressing tables and ingenious end tables. In January she is presenting the KUBE, a clever designer piece of outdoor furniture, in turns a chaise longue, armchair, coffee table and pouffe, for EGO Paris. All her creations feature the same taste for transformation and surprise, and elegant lines which she likes adding a twist to with an unexpected detail. After training at the Nantes Art School, Emmanuelle Legavre explored different forms of artistic expression and chose to specialize in design. Having worked as a set designer for the TV industry for a number of years, she subsequently founded EL Paris, in order to carry out projects that related and answered to her love of detail and taste for the audacious.
